The organizers of Miss Tanzania beauty pageant, Lino International Agency played down the allegations of age cheating facing the recent crowned Sitti Mtemvu, insisting that she is still being regarded as eventual winner unless proved otherwise.

There was concern over Mtemvu’s winning of the prestigious title, alleged that she was over aged and not below 24 years as per Miss Tanzania’s participation regulations.
The controversy led to the leakage of some documents, which despite showing that she was over aged, the organizers said that they do not give weight to such mere allegations unless concrete evidence is given.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday, Lino International Agency managing director, Hashim Lundenga said that for that reason, Mtemvu is still the winner of 2014 Miss Tanzania and as such, still wears the crown. Lundenga said that Mtemvu’s age cheating issue has been exaggerated by rumours with no documents to prove it.
‘We don’t rely on documental evidences published in local media, but we rely on documents we have regarding her participation in the contest”, said Lundenga. “She was eligible to contest as per documents we have in our hands, showing her birthday”. He said the birth document they (organisers) have shows that Mtemvu was born on May 31st in 1991 and not in 1989 as it was recently published in the local media.
“We do not take those allegations into weight because there are no documents submitted to us to prove that, we, will indeed be glad to have them and scrutinize them to know the truth”, said Lundenga.
Sitti, who was crowned Miss Tanzania a fortnight ago, has always been refuting the allegations, saying that her image is being tarnished by those she said ,her enemies, who are against her developments.
“ How would people know that all the published documents (in the local media) are relevant to my age cheating claims”, questioned Mtemvu. Lundenga said should the truth be revelaed, they will take action as per rules.
