Sokoine Marathon attracts top local athletes

Minister for Information, Youth, Culture and Sports, Dr Fenella Mukangara By Joseph Mchekadona 29th March 2014 Five top local athletes have confirmed their particitipation at the forth coming Sokoine Marathon slated for April 12 at Monduli in Arusha. The event’s organizer, Wilhelm Gidabuday, said yesterday that Mary Naali who competed at the India Commonwealth Games in 2010 was among them. Others are local international regulars athletes are Andrew Sambu Getuli Bayo, Dickson Marwa and Alphonse Felix. Gidabuday said there will be also several sports and entertainment activities such as traditional games and dances. There will be also sports such as javelin, mini marathon for juniors and seniors. This is the second time this event to commemorated the death of former Tanzania Prime Minister Edward Sokoine who died in a car crash on April 12,1984 at Dumila in Morogoro. Kwa mujibu wa taarifa iliyotolewa jana na Mwenyekiti wa kamati ya tuzo hizo, Rehure Nyaulawa, walikutana Dar es Salaam juzi na kukubaliana masuala mbalimbali juu ya kuboresha tuzo hizo ikiwemo tarehe ya kuzitoa. Nyaulawa alisema ukumbi utatangazwa kwa ushirikiano wa kamati hiyo pamoja na Kamati ya Utendaji ya Taswa na tayari juhudi za pamoja za kuzungumza na wadhamini mbalimbali wakubwa na wadogo kwa nia ya kufanikisha tuzo hizo katika tarehe iliyopangwa yameanza na kuna muelekeo mzuri. US POLITICS: Does Obamacare Violate Religious Freedom?‏

On Tuesday morning, the Supreme Court heard arguments in the most scrutinized case of its term.  The issue: Does Obamacare violate the religious freedom of private employers by requiring them to provide insurance coverage for contraceptives?  The case raises several fascinating questions. Are for-profit corporations capable of holding and expressing religious beliefs? Or do those rights belong only to individuals? Tanzanite is the blue/purple variety of the mineral zoisite (a calcium aluminium hydroxy silicate ) discovered in the Mererani Hills of Manyara Region in Northern Tanzania in 1967, near the city of Arusha and Mount Kilimanjaro . Tanzanite is used as a gemstone , and naturally-formed tanzanite is extremely rare, still found only in the Mererani Hills. Tanzanite is noted for its remarkably strong trichroism , appearing alternately sapphire blue, violet and burgundy depending on crystal orientation. Tanzanite can also appear differently when viewed under alternate lighting conditions. The blues appear more evident when subjected to fluorescent light and the violet hues can be seen readily when viewed under incandescent illumination. Tanzanite is usually a reddish brown in its rough state, requiring artificial heat treatment to bring out the blue violet of the stone. The mineral was named by Tiffany & Co. after Tanzania, the country in which it was discovered. I

What makes Sokoine Mini Marathon famous is the fact that is a day of remembrance of the great man who saved the position of Prime Ministers as Mwalimu Nyerere's right hand man . 30 yrs on still remembered as a 'True Hero" He died in the fatal car accident nearly 30 yrs ago (April 12, 1984). So Tanzania remembers him by staging the “Peoples Marathon” not only the " Elites Marathon” .
