Uzembe waitoa Tanzania michezo ya Olimpiki 2016

Image

England cricket coach Ashley Giles (right) talks with cricketer Moeen Ali during past training session in Chittagong. He is among former cricket stars expected to compete in a charity tournament opening on Saturday at the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. PHOTO | FILE  When you’re climbing Africa’s tallest mountain to play the world’s highest game of cricket, you’d better make sure you’ve got a spare ball. England spin bowler Ashley Giles, along with 30 other trekkers including South African fast bowler icon Makhaya Ntini, have made sure they’ll be prepared by carrying up 24 balls -- as well as pads, helmets, stumps and an entire plastic pitch. “It’s a crazy challenge,” Giles told AFP, while trekking to the top of Kilimanjaro to play the game in its ice-covered crater, just below the 5,895 metre (19,341 feet) summit. If successful, the game in northern Tanzania will beat the current record by over 600 metres (1,9...

Fast After 40: Master Your Recovery

Image
Recovery gets more important the older you get. Photo: FCG/Shutterstock.com It’s not the training we do that counts; it’s the training from which we can recover. Training provides a stimulus (our workouts) that triggers an adaptation: better fitness. But that adaptation doesn’t happen overnight. Rush the process, and you invite overtraining syndrome, along with the impaired performance and injuries that accompany it. “I was once asked to write a scientific article on overtraining,” says coach Jack Daniels, whose book Daniels’ Running Formula has been called the Bible of the sport. “My response was that’s the simplest article ever. It’s two words long: Avoid it.” Overtraining in younger athletes generally results from an extended period of running too hard, too long, or a combination of both. In masters runners, a single instance of two hard workouts in a row without adequate recovery can do the...

Bodi ya ngumi iundwe kunusuru mabondia

Image
