Kamati ya Olimpiki imeitisha   kikao mjini Zanzibar kujadili mambo yahusuyo kamati yenyewe na ushiriki wake katika kuhamasisha michezo kama ilivyo madhumuni ya kamati hiyo. Pamoja na mengine kamati hiyo imejipanga kuwasilisha hoja ya mahesabu ya mapato na matumizi ya mwaka 2012/2013 na pia kutoa mtazamo wa bajeti ya mwaka ujao wa 2014. Kwa mujibu wa nakala ya mahesabu ya mapato na matumizi iliyowasilishwa na kampuni ya ukaguzi ya Philips & Co wajumbe wa kikao hicho wataombwa kuridhia na kupitisha bajeti hiyo yenye utata. Will try to ensure IOA polls before Winter Olympics: Jitendra

Jitendra Singh New Delhi: Sports Minister Jitendra Singh friday said he would try to convince the IOA to hold its much-awaited elections before the scheduled date of February 9 to ensure that the Indian athletes are able to compete under the national flag during the Sochi Winter Olympics , starting February 7.   The Indian Olympic Association, which has bowed to the IOC`s diktat of barring tainted officials from its polls, has set aside February 9 for its election despite governing body making it clear that the Indian athletes would have to compete under the Olympic flag in Sochi if the polls are not held before the event. "We are trying that elections are held by the last week of January or February 2 or 3 so that Indian athletes can compete under the national flag in the Winter Games," Jitendra told reporters on the sidelines of the launch of Olympic bronze-medallist boxer M C Mary Kom`s autobiography `Unbreakable` here. Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim , who concluded his term of office as Secretary General of the Organization of African Unity on 17 September 2001 after serving an unprecedented three terms covering a period of twelve years, is now involved in several activities.  He has functions and responsibilities at national, continental and international levels. At the national (Tanzania) level he is serving as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The Mwalimu Nyerere Foundation. He is also the Chancellor of the Hubert Kairuki Memorial University. At the continental level, following the invitation of the President of the African Development Bank , he has since March, 2002 been acting as African Water Ambassador whose responsibilities include advocacy, sensitization, and mobilization of support on African water issues. Work begins on 2014 Games shooting range venue

Jennifer McIntosh/ Scottish shooter Work to transform the Ministry of Defence shooting range in Angus into a venue for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games has begun. The Barry Buddon range in Carnoustie will host all the shooting events, due to take place from 23 July to 3 August. The site currently serves as an infantry training area with 21 ranges capable of supporting small arms, heavy machine gun and medium mortars.  Shooting is one of 17 sports that make up the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. The MoD range was previously used for the full-bore rifle contest during the Edinburgh Games in 1986. However, all events, including clay target and pistol and small bore, will take place in Angus at next year's games. The MoD said that in the mean time, the ranges would remain fully operational to military users.
