Katika hali ya kushangaza Kilimanjaro Stars waliibuka washindi baada ya mchezo kutawaliwa na waganda katika kipindi cha kwanza ambapo Uganda The Cranes waliongoza kwa bao moja bila kabla ya wabongo kusawazisha na hatimaye kuwapa deni la goli moja pale walipokwenda mapumziko. Katika kipindi cha pili mchezaji wa Kili Stars Salum Abubakar alitolewa kwa kadi nyekundu ambapo waganda walipata mwanya wa kusawazisha bao la pili hadi mwisho wa dakika 90. Glasgow 2014: Jonathan Boyd to design Commonwealth Games medals

Jonathan Mathew Boyd An award-winning silversmith is to design the medals awarded at next year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Jonathan Mathew Boyd lecturers at Glasgow School of Art (GSA), from where he graduated with first class honours. The 29-year-old, who lives in the city, uses digital technologies in his work as well as hand crafted skills and traditional metalworking techniques. Boyd described the commission as "humbling and extremely exciting". His design will be unveiled next year. Boyd said: "I love the city of Glasgow and have lived here for most of my adult life; to be given this important opportunity and to showcase my admiration for the city is both humbling and extremely exciting. IKULU: Tanzania condoles over death of Mandela

A Freedom fighter, prisoner, moral compass and South Africa's symbol of the struggle against racial oppression.  That was Nelson Mandela , who emerged from prison after 27 years to lead his country out of decades of apartheid.  He died Thursday night at age 95.   Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete said on Friday that Africa and the world in general have lost an iconic leader of the 20th and 21st centuries following the death of South Africa's first black president Nelson Mandela, who died on Thursday at the age of 95. "We understand how painful for South Africans to lose such a brave, revolutionary and tolerant leader," President Kikwete said in his message of condolence to South African President Jacob Zuma, the wife of Mandela, Graca Machel, and all South Africans. Kikwete said in a statement to the media that Mandela's forgiveness and love played a major role in uniting South Africans after they had endured a long period of fighting

OBITUARY: Tony Abbott, Bill Shorten to attend Nelson Mandela memorial service in Johannesburg

The late Nelson Mandela (Madiba) Prime Minister Tony Abbott will join other world leaders in South Africa this week for the funeral service for Nelson Mandela. Mr Abbott said on Saturday he would ask Opposition Leader Bill Shorten to accompany him at the memorial service for the anti-apartheid leader at Johannesburg stadium on Tuesday. "To represent the Australian people, I will be attending the memorial service for His Excellency Nelson Mandela this week in Johannesburg," Mr Abbott said in a statement. ‘‘There is a long bipartisan history of Australian support for South Africa and the campaign to abolish apartheid."Mr Mandela died on Friday morning, Australian time, aged 95.  His body will lie in state at government buildings in the capital Pretoria from Wednesday until a burial at his rural home in Qunu the following Sunday. 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games

Rio de Janeiro Brazil The 2016 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXI Olympiad, are a major international multi-sport event to be celebrated in the tradition of the Olympic Games, as governed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).  The host city of the Games will be Rio de Janeiro as announced at the 121st IOC Session (which is also the 13th Olympic Congress) held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on October 2, 2009. They are scheduled to be held from August 5 to 21, 2016.  The 2016 Summer Paralympics will be held in the same city and organized by the same committee, and are scheduled to be held from September 7 to 18.  The Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games will be the first edition held in South America, the second in Latin America (after Mexico City), the third edition held in the southern hemisphere (the first of which outside of Australia), and the first Games in a lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) country. Pakistan juniors to play in hockey World Cup in India

LAHORE: Pakistan’s 18-member junior hockey team left for India via Wagah Border to participate in the Junior World Cup Hockey Tournament on Monday. The junior hockey team lead by Umer Bhutta will travel to Delhi from Amritsar at 1pm today. Pakistan has been placed in pool A with Germany, Belgium and Egypt in the event which will commence from December 6. Pakistan will play Egypt on the opening day of the event. SOURCE: thenews.com.pk

SIMON ROBERT NAALI: The late Tanzanian marathoner who died long-ago but not forgotten

The late Simon Robert Simon Robert Naali was born on March 9th 1966. He had occupations including Police Officer and professional athlete. He died on August 13th 1994 at the age of 28 years and 5 months old in injuries following the hit and run car accident. He is a multiple winner of Honolulu marathon, Stockholm Marathon and has competed in several major marathons in the world. He was a man of people, he left behind a striving family that suffered a lot with all eyes watching but doing nothing to help. His wife later died a year or two after his death, it become even harder to the kids. But thanks god his kids are now grown up and taking charge of their lives properly. One of his kids inherited his talents both the athletics and a Police Officer. He finished eleventh at the 1993 World Championships in 2:19:30 hours. In addition he won the bronze medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games.   He competed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, where he didn't finish the race.
