'Azam defence unsettled'

Azam FC coach Joseph Omog Azam FC coach Joseph Omog has declared that his team had plenty of leakages in the defence line, resulting in easy scoring of goals by opponents. In an interview with the Guardian the coach said that due to the signing of new defender Serge Pascal Wawa from Ivory Coast it needs time for other defenders to be able to play with him. Omog said so after his team was thrown out in ongoing Mapinduzi Cup by Mtibwa Sugar in the quarter final on Thursday.  Three central defenders Said Morad, Aggrey Moris and David Mwatika were trying to cope with the new defender and that is what cost the team. “We are still looking for someone who will play with Wawa in central defending. We tried Moris and at another time Mwatika but still there is a lot of mistakes occurring between them. National cross-country championship on Feb

The National Cross-Country Championship is expected to take place in Arusha on February 15, Athletics Tanzania (AT) has announced. The association’s secretary general, Suleiman Nyambui, confirmed that the tournament will involve all athletes from Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar with the aim of forming the national team that will participate in an international meet in Switzerland in March. “The event aims at selecting a strong national team that will represent the country in the international competition in Switzerland in March,” he said.  “It also gears towards promoting athletics so it can attract the attention of sports enthusiasts in the country.” Nyambui insisted all athletes should participate in the event so AT can have greater opportunity to select talented athletes from across the country. “With strong determination, hard work, passion and commitment we can make great strides in the sport and turn our athletes into outstanding performers in the wo
