Kassim Majaliwa (Prime Minister of The United Republic of Tanzania) officiated Sokoine Marathon held on April 6 2019 in Arusha   The year was 2013 when Sokoine Marathon was first introduced in Monduli (the birth and burial site) of the Late - Edward Moringe Sokoine - The former Prime Minister of The United Republic of Tanzania. The commemorative event met with turbulent shake-up during the outbreak of Corona Virus (Covid19) in which it had to pause.  Sokoine died in April 12 1984 in a tragic accident, this coming April of 2024 Tanzanians will mark forty years (40) since his departure, therefore the commemorative marathon will be held.
