   Baada ya viongozi wa RT kutangulia Moscow wiki jana hatimaye wanariadha wawili wameondoka leo kwa kutumia shirika la ndege ya Uturuki (Tarkish Airlines) kwenda Moscow Urusi. Wanariadha hao wanaokusudiwa kushiriki mbio za Marathon ni Msenduki Mohamed na Phaustin Musa ambao pia walikuwemo katika timu iliyokwenda Olimpiki ya London mwaka jana. Kabla ya kuondoka mmoja wao alihangaika usiku na mchana kutafuta namna ya kupata kibali cha kikazi (JWTZ), jukumu ambalo lingetakiwa kusimamiwa na viongozi wa RT waliotangulia ama basi wale waliobakia ofisini.   Defending champion Edna Kiplagat of Kenya won her second world championship title in the women's marathon Saturday in Moscow, making a late surge to pull past Valeria Straneo of Italy. Kiplagat won in 2 hours, 25 minutes, 44 seconds. Straneo had led from the early minutes of the race on a flat course along the Moscow River. But Kiplagat made her move at the 40th-kilometre mark and finished nearly 15 seconds ahead of Straneo. Kayoko Fukushi of Japan won bronze. Canada's Lanni Marchant was 44th, with a time of 3:01:54, a season best. Saturday's opening amid near-empty stands left it to Usain Bolt to set the nine-day event alight Saturday night when he opens his campaign for three sprint gold medals. Gidamis ndiye mwanariadha wa kwanza hadi sasa ambaye picha yake iliwekwa katika STAMP (ya barua) ya Tanzania mnamo mwaka 1980 wakati wa utawala wa Mhasisi wa Taifa la Tanzania Hayati Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere. Gidamis Shahanga ni mwanariadha mstaafu aliyekuwa amejikita katika  mbio ndefu za mita 10,000 na mbio za Marathon. Muhammad Ali's Africa Tour and the 1980 Olympics

In response to the Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan in 1979, the United States decided to boycott the 1980 Olympics in Moscow. President Jimmy Carter decided to have Muhammad Ali go on a five nation tour to convince African leaders to also boycott the Olympics. Ali was against the Soviet Union’s actions in Afghanistan and he was a popular figure in Africa, so for Carter this move seemed pretty logical. The five nations that Ali would visit were Tanzania, Kenya, Nigeria, Liberia, and Senegal. The United States government was at the time more concerned about this invasion that they were with the apartheid regime in South Africa. The general consensus on this decision seems to be that this was a bad diplomatic move on Carter’s part. Some officials in Tanzania questioned why Muhammad Ali was sent on a diplomatic mission and one questioned if the United States would have sent Chris Evert to London to talk with the British. MOUNT HANANG IN NOTHERN TANZANIA IS HOME TO WORLD CLASS ATHLETES

Katesh is the capital city of Hanang District of Manyara Region, mt Hanang is the 3rd tallest mountain in Tanzania after mt Meru and mt Kilimanjaro. Hanang District is home to most famous athletes who have represented Tanzania well, led by the legendary  Gidamis Shahanga (Commonwealth Games gold medalist in the marathon 1978 in Edmonton Canada, again won a gold medal in 10,000m in Brisbane Australia in 1982). Gidamis Shahanga become an inspiration to hundreds of young athletes and was seen as an icon and a celebrity both in Manyara Region and Tanzania as a whole. Born in Jarodom Vilage Shahanga is the first born in the family of Sumni Gituru Shahanga, his younger brother (Alfredo Gidabit Shahanga) took up the sports as well. Gidamis Shahanga's success later produced a pair of world class runners who carried the flag of Tanzania across the world during the 1980s and late 1990s.
