ARCHIVES: Eaton wins Morogoro ladies Open golf title

Angel Eaton of the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) proved her exceptional skills when she won the Morogoro Open Ladies Golf Championship after carding 236 total gross at the Morogoro Gymkhana Club .

“I’m extremely happy to clinch the title,” said the soft-spoken lady, who also plays for the national team. Eaton carded 80 gross in the first round one of the-two-day event.

She also collected 76 points in the second round before she made her way clear to the title by earning 80 gross in the final lap. Defending champion Madina Idd did not appear for the event, which is the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) Order of Merit championship.

The second spot went to Neema Olomi, who scored 87, 82 and 84 points in all three rounds to earn 253 gross. Chiku Elias was the net winner with 273 points while her sister Vickey Elius also had the same points but was placed second on count-bank.

Rosey Nyenza emerged bronze net winner with 223 while the runner-up was Mariam Hiza with 234. Vailet Peter won the bronze gross category with 278 while Habiba Sanze came second with 294. David Mollel won the men’s senior net title after registering 145 as Collin Higgins snatched the second position with 156.
Hamis Ally won the men’s senior gross’ category after he garnered 150 points while Godfrey Levellian finished second with 157. Michael Kavula carded 159 to emerge top in the junior category while Habiba Juma got 160 to become the runner-up.

Hamis was also the winner of the closest to the pin category while Qusai Yusufali, who is the Morogoro Gymkhana Club’s competition secretary, emerged winner of the longest drive.
