Obituary: The ITF is saddened to learn of the death of junior player Prayoga Achmadi on Thursday 19 December
The
15-year-old from Indonesia collapsed on court during a semifinal match against
Bryan Husin at the FIKS Open, a boys’ under 16 national tournament held at
Maluku Park tennis courts in Bandung, Indonesia.
"He collapsed on the field,” said tournament director Ganjar Kurnia. “The medical team [was] deployed to centre field to give relief [before Achmadi] was taken in critical condition to the hospital, which is about 300 meters from the ground.”

Achmadi
reached a career-high No. 1272 in the combined junior world rankings earlier
this month, soon after winning the doubles crown alongside Tio Juliandi
Hutauriuk at the Grade 5 48th Brunei ITF Junior Circuit event in Bandar Seri
Begawan, Brunei.
One
of the more promising players from Indonesia, Achmadi was selected for the ITF
High Performance Training Camp in Bangkok in 2012 and had a bright future ahead
of him.
