Tanzanian’sprolific players Omary Sulle, Emmanuel Mallya and Tumaini Martin cruised to the semifinals at ITF/ CAT East Africa

Arusha Gymkhana Club (AGC) based players Sulle and Mallya, who are currently at the Bujumbura Tennis Academy in Burundi where they are undergoing tennis and academic lessons after securing an ITF scholarship four years ago, proved to be among the region’s best.

Sulle secure a boys’ U-14 semi-final spot after recording an impressive 6-4, 6-0 victory over Ethiopian Deme Zakaras in an exciting quarter- final match. His Burundi Academy college mate Mallya, who is playing in the U-16 category, went through after seeing off Saidi Nkurunzinza of Burundi by 6-4, 6-0.

Martin, also from AGC, reinforced Tanzania’s dominance in the boy’s U-16 semifinal after winning his match 6-4, 6-0 over Shababi Kabura of Burundi. Other local boys who impressed yesterday were Yusuph Lawrence, who beat Larporte Denzel of the Seychelles 6-2, 6-0 in the U-12 category and Rashid Salehe who ousted Hamis Hassan 6-2, 6-3 in an all-Tanzania encounter.
