Athletics: Kilimanjaro Marathon Prize Money Up

John Addison, the Managing Director of Wild Frontiers, international coordinators of the event, said in a statement that winners of the Kilimanjaro Marathon 2014 will be rewarded with over 40m/- prize monies and other exciting incentives from Kilimanjaro Premium Lager, main sponsors of the event along with co sponsors.
He said 20m/- is up for grabs by the 42km Full Marathon winners, 10m/- for the 21km Half Marathon winners, 6m/- for the GAPCO 10km Marathon winners and fabulous spot prizes will be provided by Vodacom to the 5km Fun Run finishers.
Addison said this year's event is loaded with exciting incentives designed to attract world class runners. First placed winner men/women of the 42km Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon will take home 4m/- each, 2m/- for second placed as well as 1m/- for the third placed winners.
First placed winner men/women of the 21km Half Marathon will pocket 2m/- each, 1m/- for second placed as well as 500,000/- for the third placed winners. Addison added that medals and T-shirts will be available to the first 500 finishers of the 42km Full Marathon, the first 2,200 finishers of the 21km Half Marathon and first 80 finishers of the GAPCO 10km Disabled Marathon.
The first 3,000 finishers of the Vodacom 5km Fun Run will be given T-shirts at the finish line and they will have an opportunity to win a lot of exciting spot prizes as well through lucky draws.
In order to motivate and encourage local athletes to improve their finishing times, Kilimanjaro Premium Lager has set aside a 2m/- bonus for Tanzanian athletes who will break records at the race.
Executive Solutions are local coordinators of the Kilimanjaro Marathon 2014 in conjunction with Athletics Tanzania (AT), Kilimanjaro Amateur Athletics Association and Kilimanjaro Marathon Club.
The event is sponsored by Kilimanjaro Premium Lager, Vodacom Tanzania, GAPCO, Simba Cement, and KK Security among others, Keys Hotel, TPC Sugar, TanzaniteOne, CMC Automobiles Ltd, Kibo Palace Hotel, RwandAir, FNB Tanzania, UNFPA and Kilimanjaro Water.
