Tanzania Struggles in School Games

Team Tanzania during the opening ceremony in Dar Es Salaam Tanzania

TANZANIA'S Makongo Secondary School triumphed 79-73 in a thrilling basketball match of the East Africa Secondary School Games at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

However, the going is not all that smooth for the hosts as Makongo lost their three netball matches, including yesterday's massive 63-11 defeat to St Kitende of Uganda.

Jitegemee head coach Christina Kabamba attributed her team's poor show to inferiority complex and ruled out any chance of advancing to the finals. Another Tanzanian side, Kizuka Secondary School, lost 36-30 to Shimba Hills of Kenya in netball.

In volleyball, St Aloys Girls of Rwanda defeated Makongo 3-0 as Lycee De Nyanza of Burundi thrashed Tanzania's Kilabela 3-0.
