Trouble looms for TTA officials
Fina Mango/TTA Vice President |
NSC officer Benson Chacha who is responsible for tennis desk
confirmed that NSC has dispatched a letter to TTA leadership on the
matter.
He said NSC has on four occasions invited TTA for meetings but neither showed up, nor gave any excuse.
‘On Wednesday the Chairman of NSC was there waiting for them but
they never showed up, so we have decided to write them to explain as to
why they are failing to attend the meetings. NSC rules are clear on
disciplinary action which can be taken on such cases, but we want the
officials to explain and also defend themselves,’ he said.
According to Chacha, early this year some members of TTA complained
to NSC on the way the association is run, the members alleged that the
leadership is allegedly not following its bylaws.
Chacha said some TTA members are also complaining that Mango is
allegedly running the association as her personal estate where she
allegedly makes decisions without consulting the executive members of
the association.
Kiango Kipingu/TTA Member |
One of the disgruntled members Hassan Kassim said they are
complaining on the selection of the coach who accompanies the players to
international games outside the country and also lack of competitions.
‘You may see that since this leadership was elected it’s only
Kiango Kipingu who has traveled with the team outside the country, it’s
not that we are against him no, but it’s the way he has been selected, I
am one of the executive members of TTA but Mango has never consulted us
…..there are many things which are happening and that is what made
Methusela Mbajo to resign as the president of the association’, said
Kassim.
‘You may also want to know that since this leadership came into
power two under half years ago, there is no any tournament which they
have organised, the game is dying a natural death, to me the Inger Njau
leadership was better than this one,’ said Kassim who was also
against Njau during her tenure.
Mango confirmed to have received the latter from NSC describing it as an ordinary one.
‘I have their letter, but I cannot tell you the contents, to me
it’s a normal letter which any boss can write to his subordinate, it’s
not a serious issue the way it is taken,’ she said.
