– With a time of 13:44.31, Sydney
Gidabuday ran to a third place finish in the 5000 meter run on
Day One of the Husky Classic.
Gidabuday's remarkable time now ranks first in the nation and serves as an automatic qualifying mark. He holds a 13-second edge over the second fastest time amongst all competitors at the NCAA Division II level. Shockingly enough, it served as Gidabuday's first-ever 5000 meter appearance during his ASU career. The freshman now holds the nation's top time in both the 3000 meter run and 5000 meter run.
Also competing in the men's 5000 meter run were Dominic Cabada, Brian Glassey, Sean Fontana, Lucio Ramirez, and Jackson Sayler.
Cabada (14:23.81) finished 33rd as Glassey (14:42.24) and Fontana (14:43.64) placed 56th and 58th, respectively. The aforementioned trio all earned provisional times with their finishes. Ramirez (14:48.71) and Sayler (15:11.60) finished 63rd and 66th overall.
Kaylee Bogina represented the Green & White in the women's 5000 meter run with a provisional time of 17:23.26 while placing 61st overall in a highly competitive field.
Day Two of the Husky Classic resumes tomorrow from Seattle.
