Tanzania is a peaceful country; I mean from east to west of the country the police and civilians appreciated our mission. In fact they even sheltered and fed us along the way from the coast of Indian Ocean to the shores of Lake Tanganyika . Thanks to Mwalimu Julius Kambarage Nyerere for setting up this strong foundation.

THE LONG WALK FROM BAGAMOYO TO UJIJI KIGOMA: PART (ONE OF SEVEN)

Image
It was 31 days I can never forget, I started alone in the Eastern port town of Bagamoyo like a 'crazy man', I did not know what tomorrow will bring along the way. My aim was like 'just do it'!. Finally four of my Village friends joined me in Dodoma. (Santunini Hhayuma 60, Paschal Nachan, Agatha Nyangura, and Stephano Nyangura) . Read the next part:

BARBAIGA: The tribe that keeps true culture beside interference of western civilization

Image
Barbaig lady vending chicken  The most general name for this widely dispersed ethnic group is Datooga . The best known and most numerous sub-tribesie of the Datooga peoples are the pastoral Barabaiga, who reside chiefly in that part of the northern volcanic highlands dominated by Mount Hanang (3418m), whose scared nature makes it an important theme in Barabaiga myth and song. The Datooga keep goats, sheep, donkeys and a few chickens, but cattle are by far the most important domestic animal. The meat, fat, blood, milk, hide, horns, tendons and cow dung of every animal have either practical or ritual purposes. They were formerly nomadic, depending largely on milk products for their diet, and moving whenever the needs of their cattle dictated. Now, however, many farm a plot of maize and sometimes beans and millet. The Datooga themselves blend in with their environment, their dress being the color of the reddish brown soil. Only on closer inspection will they appear co...

Mo Farah beaten in Great North Run sprint finish by Kenenisa Bekele

Image
Kenenisa Bekele wins the Great North Road ahead of Farah and Haile/PA Kenenisa Bekele could feel Mo Farah bearing down on him like a hawk swooping in for the kill. This time, however, the prey outfoxed the predator. There was to be no glorious finale for Farah in his first attempt at the Great North Run half-marathon , yet Great Britain's Olympic champion can take solace from the fact that he was beaten here by one of the finest long-distance runners of the modern era. One second was the mere gap that separated Bekele and Farah, but the Ethiopian timed it beautifully. He fought his way through the fierce Tyneside wind to finish the 32nd Great North Run in 1hr 00min 09sec, with his compatriot Haile Gebrselassie , who set the pace for the majority of the race, third in 1:00.41. For Gebrselassie it was one more record to add to his stellar career, running the fastest half-marathon ever recorded by a man aged 40 or over. Farah set a new British record but missed...
