Kuelekea maandalizi ya Mbio za Dodoma

Mwingereza & Gidabuday Kocha wa riadha Anthony Mwingereza akiwa na Wilhelm Gidabuday Dodoma mwishoni mwa wiki kwa maandalizi ya mbio za Dodoma Hapa Kazi Tu Half Marathon. Mbio hizo zimeandaliwa na Shirikisho la Riadha Tanzania (RT) kwa madhumuni ya kuendeleza mchezo wa riadha nchini. Pia mbio hizo zimeandaliwa kama mchakamchaka wa kupasha misuli kuelekea mashindano ya Olimpiki ya Rio De Janeiro nchini Brazil mwezi August mwaka huu.

Tanzania has so far produced only two marathoners who have qualification standard for Rio Games. The two athletes who have their tickets ready for the games are Alfonce Felix and Said Makula, Felix qualified last year in Australia while Makula qualified at Casablanca Marathon. Sambu and Marwa to compete at Dubai Marathon

Andrea Sambu Sipe The former world junior cross country champion Andrew Sambu and another outstanding marathon runner Dickson Marwa are expected to compete at this year’s Dubai Marathon.   “I will try my best to qualify for Rio De Janeiro Olympic Games “, said the 45 years old Anrew Sambu who was training hard at Arusha Stadium recently. Dubai Marathon will be held in three weeks time (January 22 2016). Dickson Marwa has also been training hard for the same race; the two athletes have a long history of which both have represented Tanzania at several international competitions. Tennis body's acting president resigns

Fina Mango / Ex TTA President Acting president of Tanzania Tennis Association (TTA) Fina Mango has resigned from her post citing being busy with other engagements as the main reason.   Mango was elected vice president of TTA but was acting president after Methusela Mbajo resigned three years ago.   In a letter dated December 10, 2015 addressed to National Sports Council (NSC) and TTA secretary general William Kallaghe, Mango said she has resigned from her post due to engagements with personal and other issues.     “This is to inform you that from today (December 10, 2015 ) I have resigned from my post as acting president of TTA…I wish the association all the best,” said part of the letter.   Mango on Monday could not answer her cell phone when we wanted to know from her, only to send a short message later that she is busy.   Yesterday she could also not answer her mobile phone.   Efforts to have confirma...

Roger Federer to partner Martina Hingis at 2016 Olympics

Roger Federer will partner former Wimbledon champion Martina Hingis for Switzerland in the mixed doubles at the 2016 Olympics in Rio Federer, 34, and Hingis last played mixed doubles together at the Hopman Cup in Australia in 2001. The 17-time Grand Slam champion said he is "really excited". "I looked up to her when I was younger, I thought she was the most unbelievable talent," added Federer, who is a year younger than Hingis.  "She's almost my age and she was winning Grand Slams while I was still at the national tennis centre and I couldn't believe how good she was." Hingis, 35, has won five Grand Slam singles titles in her career, including Wimbledon in 1997 at the age of 16.  She came out of retirement for a second time in 2013  and has since enjoyed great doubles success, winning five titles in 2015, including the mixed doubles and the women's doubles at the US Open.  Source: bbc.com/sport
