JOHN STEPHEN AKHWARI Celebrates 85th birthday as Mexico City bids for 2036 Summer Olympic Games

Mexico presents their intent to host 2036 Summer Olympics to Thomas Bach of IOC While competing in the marathon in Mexico City, Akhwari cramped up due to the high altitude of the city. He had not trained at such an altitude back in his country. At the 19 kilometer point during the 42 km race, there was jockeying for position between some runners and he was hit. He fell badly wounding his knee and dislocating that joint plus his shoulder hit hard against the pavement. He however continued running, finishing last among the 57 competitors who completed the race (75 had started). The winner of the marathon, Mamo Wolde of Ethiopia, finished in 2:20:26. Akhwari finished in 3:25:27, when there were only a few thousand people left in the stadium, and the sun had set. Fabiaono Joseph Naasi (C) on his way to claim Gold Medal in Edmonton Canada in 2005 Fabiano Joseph Naasi from Manyara has represented Tanzania in multiple international games including Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, and World Cross Country Championships etc. He is the only Tanzanian to have won World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton Canada in 2005; he has medals in commonwealth Games more than one World Half Marathon. World Athletics Council decides on Russia, Belarus reinstatement

Russian President Vladimir Putin met Lamine Diack (by then) President of IAAF in 2011 The World Athletics Council has today made a number of important decisions regarding the future participation of the Russian and Belarusian Member Federations in athletics. The Council agreed to the reinstatement of the Russian Federation (RusAF) following seven years of suspension due to egregious institutional doping violations.  However, athletes, officials and supporting personnel from Russia and Belarus are still excluded from competition for the foreseeable future due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. SARA RAMADHANI: The 2023 Kilimanjaro Marathon Champ

Sara Ramadhani Makera is a Singida Native long distance runner who specializes in the marathon. She competed in the women's marathon event at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games and she is the current Kilimanjaro marathon Champion. In 2017 she represented Tanzania at the London World Athletics Championships, and then in 2019 she represented Tanzania at the All African Games held in Rabat Morocco. Ms Sara also competed in several road racing ranging from 10K to full marathon; 2017 Dusseldorf Marathon Germany finishing 2 nd place, The Hague City - Pier Half Marathon, Hanover Marathon and dominated Brazilian road circuit. SAMSON RAMADHANI NYONYI: The force to be recognized among Tanzania Marathoners

  Samson Ramadhani (Center) celebrates his Gold Medal win at 2006 Commonwealth Games Samson Ramadhani Nyonyi from Singida is a marathon runner, he was the gold medalist at the 2006 Commonwealth Games that took place in Melbourne, Australia with the result at 2:11:29. National Olympic Coach Zakaria Gwandu talks with Samson Ramadhani at London Olympics In 2003 he participated in three marathons: He won the Beppu Oita Marathon, was fifth at the London Marathon (time 2:08:01 (his personal best) and was 15th at the World Championships in Paris. He participated in more than one Olympic Games and World Championships. In 2007 he won the Lake Biwa Marathon and competed at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka finishing 25th. LWIZA MSYANI JOHN: Tanzania women’s 800m national record holder

Lwiza John (C) at her very early years of running  Lwiza John dominated track events in the 1990’s till early 2000, she set the national record on September 9 th 2000 in Yokohama Japan; she posted her astonishing personal best of 1:59.58 over the 800 meters. Ms Lwiza currently holds the position of Member of Athletics Tanzania’s Executive Committee.
