SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SECTION DIVISION 3 BOYS Notes: At this stage of the game, senior Sydney Gidabuday has more developed talent than the younger Austin Tamagno (who has crazy game for a sophomore), but it is the sophomore who has been the calmer racer while Gidabuday still learns strategy. Both are great talents, but Gidabuday has better 2013 upside if he can learn to execute better plans.  Still, Tamagno is reaping all the benefits by not doing anything wacky as he, too, learns… Brea Olinda's Brennon Koryta , affected by injury early on and also with other key priorities on his mind, took a nice step forward for both he and his team at Orange County. 1. Quiet weekend at the top, but the battle in Orange County, CA rages on The Saucony Elite 50 refers to the top-50 individual in the country (25 boys and 25 girls) A quiet week of movement on the boys' side, but there are quite a few harriers knocking on the door of a top-25 ranking. Just as with the girls, as we are getting into Conference, Regional, and State meets which means less action from the rankings for now. That being said, here are a few big performances from last week. US#2  Joe Hardy (WA) won individually at the Hale Home Meet in Washington. US#3 Cerake Geberkidane (CO) won his regional meet, cruising on to the state meet with his 15:10 clocking. US#4 Estevan De La Rosa (CA) won the Pacific League #2 Meet in 15:07 and he continues to remain in top form heading into the postseason. US#6  Patrick Perrier (IL) crushed it at the Southwestern Conference Champs in 14:45 for the win while US#12 Obsa Ali (MN) also won at the  Classic Suburban C

New IOC President, Thomas Bach By Associated Press,  LAUSANNE, Switzerland  Thomas Bach has hired a German marketing and communications expert as an executive assistant, one of his first appointments since he was elected IOC president last month. The International Olympic Committee says Jochen Faerber will begin work Dec. 1 as Bach’s “head of executive office.” Faerber is the managing director of Germany’s Olympic fencing training center and head of the center’s marketing arm. Bach won a team gold medal in fencing for Germany in 1976. Faerber helped organize more than 20 fencing world championships and was head of broadcasting at the international fencing federation. Angel Eaton Angel Eaton of the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) proved her exceptional skills when she won the Morogoro Open Ladies Golf Championship after carding 236 total gross at the Morogoro Gymkhana Club . “I’m extremely happy to clinch the title,” said the soft-spoken lady, who also plays for the national team. Eaton carded 80 gross in the first round one of the-two-day event. She also collected 76 points in the second round before she made her way clear to the title by earning 80 gross in the final lap. Defending champion Madina Idd did not appear for the event, which is the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) Order of Merit championship. The second spot went to Neema Olomi, who scored 87, 82 and 84 points in all three rounds to earn 253 gross. Chiku Elias was the net winner with 273 points while her sister Vickey Elius also had the same points but was placed second on count-bank.
